Step 8

Remove the lower section of the advance

mechanism that has the 8 tooth reluctor

wheel on it by sliding it down and off the

shaft.

Step 9

Carefully remove the appropriate teeth

leaving only the single tooth identified in

step 3. An air grinder with cut off wheel

followed by a sanding disc works well for

this operation.

Step 10

Re-assemble the advance mechanism by sliding the lower section back onto the shaft. Be sure to locate

the advance stop bushing pin into the small hole in the lower section to lock the advance mechanism.

Install the washer and lock nut onto the advance stop bushing pin.
